Our client are one of the world's leading project development and construction groups and they are looking for a Senior Planner to be based Exeter.

Job role

  • To lead the planning and programming process with the Devon Highways Contract, ensuring that the planning team provide a proactive and professional service to the operational teams
  • Provide accurate countrywide delivery programs
  • Work with Devon County Council in the development of the Annual Plan and subsequent Contractor's Plan
  • Maximise resource utilisation of based on the Annual Plan

Responsibilities

  • Programme Production:
    Compile and produce works programmes in accordance with the contract
  • Programme Maintenance / Development: Monitor, update, validate and re-schedule the programme(s) on regular basis using actual site data measured against baselines

Change Management:

  • Identify delays i.e. compensation events / relevant events and analyse the impact working with Commercial team
  • Reporting & Forecasting:
  • Produce reports for operations team and senior management. Monitor cost where applicable.
  • Analyse reporting metrics with site team

Communication to Operations Team:

  • Produce summary documents to communicate the programme to different levels of operational staff. Organise and chair planning related meetings to coordinate works to achieve maximum efficiencies in production e.g. liaison with operations, design etc

Collaborative Planning:

  • Facilitate collaborative planner meetings and produce programmes / analysis from meetings

Planning Community:

  • Participate in work-stream planning meetings and initiatives

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge and competence using planning software
  • Understanding of planning theory; linking; float; re-scheduling; baselines etc
  • Intermediate / advanced use of Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of collaborative planning techniques

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience of highway maintenance works relevant to planning
  • Understanding of NEC3 contract mechanisms in relation to preparation of Contractors Plan as derived from Service Managers Annual Plan.
