We have an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer based at Hinton House, Warrington.
Development and assessment of options for the management of alpha emitting materials. This includes options for waste retrieval, pre-treatment, treatment, conditioning, waste package & transfer and storage/disposal.
Provide mechanical engineering input including the application of best practices and LFE consideration of ALARP, nuclear accountancy, permanent/ temporary containment/ventilation systems and contamination control approaches.
Interface between other disciplines, such as Process and CS&A to derive front runner options.
Efficient liaison with stake-holders i.e. Security, System Engineering and Waste Advisers
Under-take plant / site visits and communicate with site personnel.
Deliver work activities against agreed work plans, specific deliverables identified so far include hazard assessment, input into study report, assumptions and risk register, mechanical schematics and technology elements identification.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
10 years nuclear experience
First class written and personal communication skills
Ability to deliver/develop/input to complex options and/or study reports to an exceptional standard
Ability to liaise with stakeholders across a wide range of specialist areas and at all levels, including Nuclear and Conventional Safety, System Engineering, Construction, Nuclear Ventilation, Package Design and Process Engineering
Experience of new and ageing Alpha, Beta-Gamma Plants and broad
Safety Case Development Principles)
Knowledge of Project Functional Specifications and Study Briefs
Peer review/checking of Study reports/Drawing schemes
Knowledge of Technology Readiness Level assessments
Microsoft packages (word, excel, power point, Visio)
