We have an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Designer based at Sellafield, Cumbria.
Your responsibility will be to:
Carry out designs of a variety of Mechanical Engineering solutions. This can range from optioneering studies for moving radiological equipment, detail engineering of mechanical equipment, plant layout, specification of package plant equipment.
Work with and assist other Senior Mechanical & Electrical Engineers together with other members of a multidiscipline design team.
Produce estimates and programmes for input to projects.
Liaise with clients and other design disciplines, attending internal and external meetings.
Produce briefs, specifications, and take a role in the review and checking of design drawings
Undertaking of survey work.
Write technical reports and produce detailed calculations.
Qualification to HNC Standard as a minimum in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge.
Competent working within Sellafield standards and procedures, and BS 8888.
Experienced with the use of geometric tolerances, limits and fits.
Knowledge and experience of UK regulations is a benefit i.e. LOLER, Machinery Directive, CDM.
Input to Designer Risk Assessments (DRAs) and Outline Installation Method Statements (OIMS).
Highly experienced knowledge of Autodesk Products (AutoCAD, Inventor, RECAP) plus other 3D systems (Navisworks, PDMS)
An appreciation of quality assurance and business management.
Good verbal and communication skills.
Able to work effectively with colleagues and with a professional approach to external clients.
An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance
Must be of smart appearance with a professional attitude and enthusiastic
Being able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Good report writing skills, with good overall MS Office experience.
Available to travel short term in UK.
HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. (Senior)
15 Years (Senior) or 10 years (Engineer) experience of Mechanical Design in the Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical or Process Industries
An understanding of associated legal and legislative requirements.
A working knowledge of Nuclear systems.
