Role: Senior Human Factors Engineer - UK Nuclear New Build
Salary: Up to £60k + outstanding benefits (inc. relocation assistance, up to 15% bonus, 12% client pension contribution, 26 days holiday, private health, life and critical illness insurance)

My client, Horizon Nuclear Power, a company at the forefront of the UK Nuclear New Build industry, is looking for skilled Human Factors professionals, ideally with a background in C&I or safety (other experience will be considered) with regards to nuclear, rail, power, aviation / aerospace, defence or MoD to assist on their £20+ billion nuclear new build programme.
These roles will be based at the client's Gloucester head office, 2 minutes drive off of j11a of the M5.
Human Factors will be embedded very deeply into the design of the new power stations, and thus candidates will be responsible for providing expert Human Factors advice to Horizon in support of its Nuclear New Build program of ABWR reactors for safety, environment and security aspects of the project, with particular emphasis on Human Factors, Man-Machine Interface and reliability of operations and maintenance personnel.
Candidates will be required to have an appreciation of Safety Cases, as well as a good appreciation and understanding of how Human Factors can influence, and be represented in Safety Cases.
These roles will be particularly associated with regards to the design of C&I Systems / control panels, etc for the new power station, so experience in the design of these systems and/or influencing the design of these systems will be of particular interest.
The Senior role will be part of the Design Authority, which is responsible for ensuring that the work being done by the engineers within Horizon is 'fit-for-purpose' .
Additional skills Horizon are looking for in candidates include:
- Able to challenge and influence stakeholders
- Able to work in teams and liaise easily with others
Some previous experience of interaction with industry regulators will be highly advantageous
