Within the EITF team, the role of EITF Senior Electrical Engineer plays an active part in realising the benefits and learning opportunity of EITF by analysis of test results and root cause analysis. The role will also be involved in further developing the design of the EITF and developing design improvements.
Working across the disciplines of power & propulsion, electrical distribution and systems integration, the role holder will be responsible for providing electrical engineering input to the delivery of the EITF design and integration of ship fit equipment into the land based test facility.
The role holder will develop a detailed functional understanding of the equipment within the power and propulsion system, and will leverage this as part of developing analysis reports, determining design issues and making recommendations for improvements based on learning from experience at the EITF.
This role will also have some involvement with electrical power systems modelling and simulation activities and may include running some EPS models in order to generate results for comparison / validation.
Deep understanding of the design of naval power & propulsion systems
Ability to perform quality of power supply analysis on electrical data
Ability to perform root cause analysis in the context of electrical power systems
Understanding of standards and regulations governing naval electrical power systems
Knowledge of equipment within Naval Power & Propulsion Systems
Electrical power system modelling and simulation experience
Knowledge of industry standard electrical and building regulations
Possesses in-depth knowledge of marine electrical power systems.
Expertise and experience of electrical power systems analysis
Able to perform analysis using recognised analytical tools and to make sound judgements.
Able to gather, filter and process information that will be used to perform testing; discussing with and eliciting information from SMEs/Stakeholders/Suppliers.
Business Expertise (Requirements of the job for knowledge and expertise about the business rather than the technical expertise)
Experience in electrical engineering or a defence related industry.
Understanding of the verification and validation phases of the lifecycle.
BEng Electrical Engineering (minimum)
Actively working towards Chartered Engineer status
