Job Purpose

Reporting through Lead Cost Engineer to Head of PMO, deliver high quality cost engineering support in delivering project objectives.

Job Dimensions

Capital programme circa £40m pa comprised of a rolling portfolio of EPC projects with varying levels of complexity with budgets ranging from £250k to £35m. Programme of approx 40 individual projects and tasks spread across a team of 4 cost engineers.

Experience Required - Essential

Project cost control in the context of the clients environment or other similar nuclear environment, customer focus - ability to engage in sound relationships with the customer project team.

Knowledge of the impact on construction and on-costs of working on a regulated site including the requirements of the nuclear and environmental site license.

Skills Required - Essential

SAP and the management of actual and predicted costs in the generation of CPI management data.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.

Carry out cost assurance; Assist with the preparation of resource estimates and plans; advice on estimates and plans including the impact of inflation; Production of the monthly reporting documentation on capital and revenue projects to strict timescales; Cost flow forecasting; SAP access and reference to assess budget, costs and commitments, to authorise payment and generate work requisitions; production of priced resource schedules for inclusion in Capital Expenditure Proposals (CEP); Contingency and Commitment Management Reporting;

Production of documentation in support of change control; Contribution to Risk Workshops; Interfacing with the planner to align programme and cost progress utilising and reporting under Earned Value Management (EVM); Provide cost commentary in response to CPI data under EVM explaining any trends or variances; Working alongside the QS to capture the project valuations in line with the reporting cycle; Liaise with suppliers to obtain time sheet and cost information on reimbursable contracts

Excellent cost focused report writing, presentation and communication skills, technically and commercially aware able to deliver on all pre and post contract service delivery and to solve problems.

Ability to prioritise and able to work under pressure, ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work, ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues.

Proactive and self-motivated, effective time management - efficient and value adding to projects.
