Aim of the job

Responsible for delivery of (parts of) Client plant designs which meets world class safety standards and the site license requirements and provides competitive advantages to be supplier of choice in the Nuclear (Enrichment) business. Act on behalf of the Global Process Owner ENGINEERING on design and engineering matters related to their expertise area and ensures alignment with local peers representing the Client Operational Sites.

Responsible for providing Engineering services (design management and specialist key/core Engineering functions) to Group/Site projects. Interface with the Site Engineering & Projects Managers, Operations Managers and Maintenance Managers to ensure designs meets Client's requirements and site license conditions. Manages Group design projects.

Act as the intelligent customer towards suppliers of Core Technology and supervises the detailed design development and manufacturing of Core Technology systems.

Act as delegated design authority on behalf of Group Manager Engineering and provides specialist support to Clients Plant Design Authority (PDA).

Specific Know How and skills

Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes.

Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, scheduling, human resources modelling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

The ability to detect when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong - and developing others to attain those skills.

The ability to apply concepts and past experience to problems or challenges to assist in organisational learning and development.

The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

Using relevant information and individual judgement to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.

Ability to take direction and function as a team member to solve a variety of engineering problems in the applicable discipline.



Recognised specialist in expertise area; high level of knowledge and problem solving capabilities

Demonstrable track record in successful project delivery involving Core Plant Technology in specific expertise area

Minimum 5 years experience in supplier management


Min. 8 years design project life-cycle experience

Demonstrable leadership role in design management concerning expertise area


Essential: Bachelor's Degree in (advanced) expertise area with

experience in project management and/or specialism in Nuclear Science or a Professional Engineer (PE) license obtained by accredited examination in associated areas.

Preferred: Master's Degree or PhD from an accredited college or university in Nuclear Science or Advanced Technology (Chemistry, Process, Mechanical, Electrical or Control & Instrumentation)


The role can be based at either the client site in Capenhurst Chester or Gronau Germany. As part of the role you will be required to undertake a significant amount of business travel both inside and outside the United Kingdom
