We have exciting opportunities for experienced SYSTEMS ENGINEERS with our Client based in Reading. SC or DV Security Clearance preferably.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Experienced Systems Engineer:

Can execute assigned tasks relating to the definition, design, build, test, commissioning and handover of complex infrastructure projects involving the following engineering disciplines: civils, mechanical, electrical, chemical, process, software, human factors, safety and security.

Appreciates the Systems Engineering V Model and associated engineering principles

Accepts assigned roles and tasks, working under limited supervision and direction.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIREMENTS ANALYSIS

Participate in the capture and analysis of customer and stakeholder requirements, including the support of requirement capture meetings and workshops with external and internal stakeholders.

Support the definition and analysis of the solution requirements through modelling, workshops, prototyping, and design reviews as appropriate.

Works comfortably with stakeholders at all levels.


SOLUTION DEFINITION, DESIGN AND CONTROL

Understand how to aligning the technical solution with requirements, legislative and regulatory constraints, and required solution qualities (e.g. manufacturing,
supportability, etc.)

Support change management by helping determine the impact of enhancement requests.

Support the definition and tracking of the system interfaces.

Manage traceability of requirements throughout the hierarchy.

Support review and approval of specifications and design documents.


SOLUTION INTEGRATION, VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION

Integration, verification, validation, and qualification planning, definition and execution activities

Participate in real world trials of the solution, including customer witnessed acceptance testing.

Develop test specifications and procedures and support their execution.

Collate and support the review of solution compliancy verification evidence and it status.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical support to any sales and marketing activities.

Support the identification, communication and mitigation of technical and security risks.

Support design studies that span multiple engineering disciplines, system and sub-system boundaries

Participate in peer reviews work carried out by other Systems Engineers.

Support the investigation of fault reports to determine root cause and propose solutions.

Report to management on assign task performance.

Identify systems engineering process improvements.

Keep abreast of improvements in systems engineering.

Perform other duties assigned by their manager from time to time, as may be reasonably required

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL

Several years of engineering experience (of any discipline) working in large, complex projects.
Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to interpret technical contract requirements.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to interface with customers, subcontractors and vendors at all levels
Ability to apply System Thinking principles and tools in everyday tasks.
Knowledge of Configuration Management processes.

DESIRABLE

Experience of using the IBM Rational DOORS, Siemens Polarion or HP Quality Center products for requirements management and test tracking.

Ability to read and write Universal and System Modelling Language (UML SysML) diagrams.


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Degree qualification or equivalent in an engineering or related technical discipline, plus demonstrable, related experience.

Must be able to travel nationally, as required.
