Sales Representative - Manchester - Initial 6 Month Contract

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager the Sales Representative position is responsible for acquiring new Packaged Gases business within a defined sales territory supported by the Sales Centre.

These responsibilities will include lead generation and basic marketing activities to determine areas that should be approached within the territory, cold calling on prospects to sell gases, following up sales leads from several sources, including Direct Marketing, Business Development Managers, Sales Centre Administrator and Sales Centre Operator.

DIMENSIONS:
* Territory: within 20-mile radius of Manchester Sales Centre.
* Product Scope: Cylinder gases
* Target: winning 20 CWD (cylinders per working day) of new business per year, largely from small Packaged Gases customers with 1-9 cylinder holdings
* Number of new customers per year: 200 - 225
* People Managed: 0

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
This position is accountable for the following end results:
* Proactive new business acquisition for cylinder gases within the delivery radius of the Sales Centre from a blend of cold calling activities and rapid follow up of supplied sales leads.
* Achievement of personal revenue and volume targets.
* Supply sales leads to the local Business Development Managers for any large cylinder / pack prospects, CryoEase or Liquid Bulk opportunities observed while in the field.
* Deploy technology solutions as required, including Metal Fabrication and Food Application Specialists, to allow a differentiated solution sale to relevant prospects.
* Create and maintain a prospect opportunity pipeline recorded via excel spreadsheet and issued to RCM monthly.
* Work with SC administrator to share target prospect lists and information with a view of the SC administrator supporting lead gen and appointment setting when not performing SC operational duties.
* Ensure that all signings have paperwork processed and issued to relevant departments on time to prevent payment issues and competitor fightback.
* Assist with account retention for SC by actively helping to secure any business at risk in conjunction with regional account management team (EAM / CAM).
* Innovation: identify and promote differentiated offerings where appropriate i.e. Integra, GasTrak, MC&W.
* Demonstrate visibility by actively engaging with all departments as and when required promoting the SC functions and developing relationships.
* Use of AP tools for new business generation, management of sales leads and prospect pipelines.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Strong commercial focus and good sales skills are essential.
* Demonstrable track record & prior experience of selling into business to business markets, especially those requiring high call rate.
* Self-motivated and self-directed with a desire and proven ability to achieve within a target driven environment.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* High energy individual, willing to travel extensively within allocated area to maximize sales opportunities.
* Use of IT to enhance communication and account opening, which include but not limited to: Microsoft Office and AP tools.
