A role has become available working within the Weapon System Engineering Team as a Snr. Safety Engineer (PG-E). The role requires a good understanding of Airborne Platforms and Systems, Safety Engineering and Certification. Must have a good level ability in delivering Airborne product design safety activities through, as a minimum, phases 1 to 6 of the Engineering Lifecycle. Understanding of airborne product certification, how safety engineering supports the certification process and the context and ability to assess, generate and assert safety justifications / arguments at all levels of the design engineering V-lifecycle (equipment, sub-system, system and platform) at a safety certification level is essential.

AT THE COAL FACE / TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluation of aircraft and system / sub-system design safety in support of platform safety certification throughout ELC Phases 1 to 6
  • Generating, updating and reviewing Aircraft, System and Sub-System System Safety Assessment Reports in support of the certification process or provision of inputs to partner companies
  • Generating, updating and reviewing Aircraft Zonal Hazard Analysis Reports (ZHAs) in support of the certification process or provision of inputs to partner companies
  • Maintenance and update of the Platform hazard logs
  • Review of platform certification evidence (inc. associated qualification evidence) and generating safety certification arguments / justifications to assert that the Platform design is acceptability safe in support of the certification process, throughout ELC Phases 1 to 6
  • Ensuring safety engineering evidence supports acceptable Safety Certification of the product design
  • Ensuring that Certification evidence supports achievement of an acceptable level of product design safety write Design Airworthiness requirements and identified hazard
  • Preliminary Hazard List (PHL)
  • Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • System / Sub-System Hazard Analysis
  • Decomposition of safety requirements at all product levels (Weapon Platform, System, Sub-System, Equipment)
  • Validation of supplier safety analysis / documentation
  • System / sub-system safety assessment reports, including safety analysis (fault tree analysis etc.) and definition / implementation of risk control measure
  • Preparation of safety certification material in support of Project (internal), partner company and customer safety and certification reviews as necessary

ADDITIONAL SECURITY INFORMATION: WE SEEK A SAFETY ENGINEER WHO HAS WORKED IN A MILITARY / DEFENCE ENVIRONMENT / INDUSTRY WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS OR WHO IS CAPABLE OF OBTAINING SECURITY CLEARANCE (SC LEVEL MINIMUM)
