SAFETY ENGINEER - Warton, Lancashire - 6 month duration

Our client is a leading Aerospace defence company based in Lancashire, they are seeking a Safety Engineer for a 6 month+ contract.

The Job holder is responsible for supporting the Safety Manager (UK) in the management and governance of all Programme (Capability) Project Safety & Environmental Management activities for a fast jet programme. This includes specific responsibility for maintaining and co-ordinating all activities related to the Programme (Capability) Hazard Management System in accordance with the requirements, processes and procedures detailed in the Programme Safety and Environmental Management Plan. Providing controlled management of all Safety related risks associated with meeting Corporate and Customer requirements within the timescales, quality standards and budgets set for the programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

Supporting the Safety Manger (UK) in the facilitation and co-ordination of safety and environmental activities across in accordance with the requirements of the Programme Safety and Environmental Management Plan.

Implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Programme Hazard Management System including the administration of the Hazard Log. Coordination of the hazard management process across the various projects that make up the Aircraft Programme (Capability).

Arranging Hazard management Meetings ensuring all decisions are documented and a clear auditable trail established for all changes to the Hazard Log. Facilitate the review of customer safety related dependencies identified and ensuring that they are agreed in the Annex B and Statements of Work.

Monitoring the deployment of Hazard Management Meetings/Safety Working Groups across the Programme. Monitoring and reporting on the Safety & Environmental metrics in place to measure the compliance and maturity of the Product Safety & Environmental Management System across the Aircraft Programme (Capability). Providing support to Customer meetings and internal reviews for related safety issues on behalf of the Safety Manager (UK).

Deputising for the Safety Manager (UK) as required. Ensuring safety standards are adhered to by all staff Secretarial administration of the Capability Hazard Management Meetings and Capability Product Safety Environmental Committee.

The job holder is required to be highly knowledgeable on Export Control Requirements and may be required to handle Export Controlled/ITAR Data.
