We have an opportunity for a Safety Case Site Support based at Sellafield, Cumbria this is 2 years contract
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Specifically the role will be to deliver the following activities:
To support the Project in developing a POCO milestone plan with timescales, ensuring Safety Case interactions are defined and incorporated.
Provide safety Case input to the Storyboard process, identifying the key risk retirement points aligned to the milestones, typically when the criticality risk is retired, the last CML bottle fed to tanks etc
Determine the most appropriate point to make Safety Case changes, typically the suspension of maintenance on sump probes, drain lines, Operator surveillance checks, Alarm response, etc, and implementing these changes without minimal impact on supporting documentation.
Develop a strategy for delivering POCO using the existing Safety Case with supporting modification and only make major changes with production and implementation of a new S&M Safety Case. Identify, schedule and manage any additional modifications to the existing Safety Case to support POCO.
Develop the new S&M Safety Case, including key plant, company and regulatory milestones. This will typically include safety case support to the following elements:
Evolution of the Claims, Arguments Evidence Safety Case format and Safety Case Report.
Any revised safety assessments to assess existing and new faults.
Any new specialist assessments (Nuclear Fire, External Hazards etc)
A revised Engineering Schedule and justification of Substantiation.
Revisions to PMS and maintenance requirements.
Revised surveillance requirements such as Alarm Response and Operator Rounds for the revised Safety Case.
Implementation work packs for the above activities.
Act as the Safety Case first point of contact in the execution of the HLR for the S&M Engineering and Operational Protective Measures.
Produce the descriptive sections of the Safety Report for S&M.
Produce a fit for purpose LTPR Report for B299
Carryout the OR review for S&M.
Personality: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and accuracy. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with range of people from Senior Managers to Plant Operators. Reliable, tolerant, and determined, an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other persons point of view. Able to get on with others and be a team-player. A questioning and investigative attitude is desirable.
Specific Job Skills: Understands the principles of Safety Cases, Nuclear and General Engineering. Previous experience of Sellafield and the Long-Term Periodic Review process will be useful.
Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word. The ability to use AutoCAD is essential and experience of Sellafield IT systems will be an advantage.
Literacy: Must be a competent writer of reports/papers.
Communication Skills: Must be a good communicator using face-to-face discussion, telephone and email. The ability to listen is essential.
Good understanding of the Safety Case Review processes and requirements
