Morson International are currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to work for one of our Clients based in Camberley. This is a contract position for 3 months+.

To be responsible for the management of cost and expenditure on building related projects (typically refurb, new build and M & E) across the contract, including construction related procurement and contract management activities, supporting company objectives of value for money and best practice in financial management

Main Tasks:

  • Proactively manage and control all costs relating to asset management activities, including new builds, alterations, refurbishments, and lifecycle planning, from initial design stages through to project completion
  • Delivery of best in class cost planning services for construction based activities, including:
    • Preparation of indicative cost budgets and appraisals
    • Preparation of elemental cost plans
    • Provision of professional advice relating to expenditure and cost impacts of development plans and asset management strategies
    • Provision of value engineering studies
  • Provision of construction related procurement advice, including:
    • Advice on procurement strategy
    • Collation of long and short tender lists
    • Preparing and issuing tender documents using NEC or JCT forms of contract
    • Management of tender process, including queries and clarifications from bidders
    • Production of tender evaluation reports
    • Preparation of construction contract documents
  • Post contract quantity surveying expertise, including:
    • Management of application for payment process / interim payments / final accounts
    • Preparing certificates
    • Managing the change control process
    • Producing cost reports and cost forecasting as required
    • Assisting colleagues (e.g. Project Managers) in management of Early Warning Notices, Compensation Events, and other contract related instructions and notifications
    • Support company in any dispute resolution / arbitration activities
    • Attending all meetings as required
  • Oversee the administration of all costs associated with asset management activities, including interfaces with other departments as required
  • Provision of subject matter expertise on construction based commercial contracts terms, payment mechanisms and performance management
  • Drafting of minor works contracts for building refurbishments and alterations, including commercial terms using NEC or JCT forms of contract
  • Compliance with company commercial / procurement / contractual strategies
  • Support business objectives of delivering value for money on all projects
  • Support the selection appointment and management of construction and engineering contractors, consultants and third parties as required
  • Ensure company health, safety and environmental procedures are complied with at all times.
  • Complete any other tasks that are deemed within your area of competence
