Leads and drives the resolution of complex quality issues and continuous improvement projects by setting the measurement standards and identifying/facilitating improvements to increase process performance and product adherence to standards, reliability of processes, and repeat ability of processes. At initial design phase, before any process changes are made and continuously through the life of a product. Often responsible for budgets and people management.

The EPAE reports via the local head of Equipment quality for all quality matters. In this way the Product Assurance requirements of all Equipment programmes are co-coordinated and directed and remain independent and have unimpeded access to top Management. The EPAE is a `key' designated core team project role with excellent exposure to a variety of activities within the Space Industry The EPAE will liaise with the Customer representatives and Subcontractors, providing opportunities to grow their network and experience within the Space Industry.
The EPAE has the authority to resolve all matters pertaining to quality including the right to suspend any activities that appear to jeopardise the quality of the program until a satisfactory resolution has been achieved The EPAE will be indirectly responsible for the extended team of QA engineers and specialists in the field of EEE Parts, Materials and processes, software and configuration control, and report into the project core team the status of their activities.
