Purchasing Manager - West Sussex

We are looking for a Purchasing Manager who can analyse the current buying systems and create the best methods for day-to-day purchasing operations. Reporting to the General Manager, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the purchasing department, establishing Buyer goals based on inventory needs and sales projections for the coming year and setting career objectives for each member of the purchasing team. Responsibilities will include and are not restricted to:
* Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business
* Collaborate with Stores and Project Managers to further develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintaining those levels throughout the year
* Manage the company's day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure that all purchasing agents are meeting their personal performance standards
* Assist in developing more effective invoicing and collecting processes
* Oversee purchasing of technical materials, including metallics, pattern block and prepregs
* Interpreting engineering drawings and BoMs
* Identify the correct purchasing strategy for the full range of materials and services
* Build relationships with key suppliers and monitor performance to ensure delivery and quality targets are met and costs are optimised
* Run and action the company MRP reports / maintain MRP and ERP with live data relating to supplier delivery dates
* Ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials
* Seek continual improvement, especially in relation to reducing costs and maintaining stock at an optimised level
* Document supplier audits alongside Quality Manager
* Work closely with Project Management, Production and Quality
* Attend contract reviews when necessary to provide procurement input

In order to reply you will have:

* Team Leader experience, excellent negotiation skills, multitasking ability, excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work with a variety of people, industry experience and be highly organised
* 4+ years' purchasing management experience or equivalent
* Strong knowledge of supply chain management in a manufacturing environment required
* Proven history of developing effective inventory management policies required
* CIPS Certification preferred or equivalent
* Excellent communication skills at all levels
* Knowledge and experience of MRP systems and MS Office
* Experience of working within an aerospace or motorsport environment would be an advantage
