Job Summary

Support the Procurement organisation in front of the relevant project team. Manage the Procurement deliverables in support of the project, ensuring scope alignment on schedule and meeting the cost targets. Consolidate dashboard and the Programme dedicated reporting

Job Profile

  • Represent the whole procurement organisation to the bids and program teams
  • Lead the procurement team on the assigned projects to deliver on time, on cost and on quality for the supplied products or services
  • Define and negotiate procurement Work Packages with bids and program teams
  • Secure alignment and drive procurement resources so that bids and programs goals are achieved by respecting milestones and delivering on time, on cost and on quality in line with defined requirements.
  • Challenge Procurement and Programmes to improve efficiency and execution
  • Consolidate and present dashboards and dedicated reporting, including risk, claims and change management

Key Responsibilities

The holder of this position will be a member of the program procurement team embedded within the project team and will be responsible to:

  • Be the key interface between the Program and the Procurement organization
  • Ensure the flow down of the program requirements to the procurement Community
  • Produce, agree and support the execution of a Procurement Plan detailing the Procurement and Supply Management commitments for the relevant projects
  • Ensure coherence between Programs and Procurement matters and as such define and agree the appropriate procurement approach
  • Identify and drive the procurement expertise in all aspects of the projects, from early assessment of risks through delivery of a cost summary, according to sourcing strategies and project requirements
  • Support the commodity multifunction teams as required
  • Be accountable for OQ OT OC delivery of products and related documentation & services and Customer satisfaction
  • Identify and resolve issues impacting on the Programme schedule and implement corrective action plans as required
  • Report and review procurement performance with Program management regularly, including cost / OT metrics, issues, risks & opportunities
  • Track the procurement material and labour cost to the budgeted EAC, monitoring and managing variations as appropriate
  • Contribute to the exchange of information and lessons learned between projects and take them into account for new bids
  • Evaluate and align workload, headcount planning and project budgets
  • Communicate feedback from programs on procurement performance, and drive consequent improvement actions
  • Ensure that procurement processes are correctly and consistently applied

Skills/Experience Required

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum five-year experience in the project, procurement or product development management of large and complex systems in a comparable industry (defence, aerospace, cyber security, intelligence, motorsport, engineering, high tech manufacturing
  • Proven experience in both project and supply chain management
  • Knowledge of SAP, Ms Project, Excel, Word, PPT etc
  • Ability to lead negotiations
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional team in a multi-national matrix organisation
  • Ability to understand the challenges of the program beyond the scope of their own work and take those challenge into account in the execution of the work
  • Work style characterised by strong leadership, autonomy, initiative and cooperation
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and social competence
  • Experience with institutions and agencies of Government and Industry (e.g. MoD, UKSA, ESA)
  • Ability to facilitate the exchange of information and lessons learnt between functions, projects and organisations
  • Efficient and organised with an ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Demonstrates a behaviour of continuous development

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in managing and delivering 'New Product Introduction' programmes, or
  • Experience in managing subcontract technical development programmes, or
  • Experience in delivering software development programmes

Education & Training

Diploma or degree in electrical, aerospace or mechanical engineering or similar education
