What this job involves

  • Working with the estimator to prepare the tender programme, project logistics and to outline project methodology whilst assisting the bid team with the preparation of the tender submission
  • Attend the tender presentation meetings
  • Assist the pre-construction team with preparing submission documents to obtain necessary approval
  • Develop the CPHS
  • Lead the planning and implementation of project controls
  • Develop the tender programme into the construction phase strategic programme
  • Assemble and coordinate the site team whilst managing project site resource allocation
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements and condition reports and building services validation
  • Site establishment and set up whilst providing direction and support to the site team
  • Plan, organise and control project works activities
  • Strategic planning of projects to ensure efficient working and safe delivery
  • Track project deliverables using company procedures and policies
  • Quality assurance
  • Internal reporting on project status and external progress reporting. Control project information release & accuracy
  • Lead internal project communication between project team
  • Provide technical support to site and design teams
  • Management and implementation of safe systems of work in accordance with company H&S procedures and policies Environmental coordination
  • Client liaison and relationship building
  • Chair sub-contractor and client meetings. Ensuring accurate records are kept and actions carried out.
  • All aspects of H&S management including but not limited to producing and updating the CPHSP, project planning, SWMP, Traffic plan, Fire plan, H&S file, O&Ms.
  • Implementation of H&S management systems on site, ensuring competency of contractors, approval of RAMS, Tool box talks, ensuring safe systems of work are in place.
  • Commission and set to work building services
  • Provide training on building services and relevant architectural fixtures
  • Project evaluation and assessment of results
  • Close out defects at end of DLP
  • Provide commercial advice to pre-construction team
  • Cash flow forecasting and supply chain procurement
  • Provide/ review project procurement schedules
  • Change management, Cost forecasting & reporting
  • Ensure the timely execution of warranties and bonds
  • Agree final accounts
  • Project evaluation and assessment of results
  • Retention release at end of DLP
  • Provide build ability advice and input
  • Work with the design team to assess building and building services limitations and to select finishes & fixtures available within time and budget
  • Manage the release of design information to ensure continuity of build
  • Lead design coordination, control and track the design release and approval process, the technical submittal and approval process and the design information request process
  • The Project Manager will be responsible for the full project resource including Site Manager, Site Foreman, Sub Contracted Labour and will also be expected to work autonomously to manage project risk and issues, supported by his line manager

  • Proven track record with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of construction project management
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Proficient in the use of project management software (ASTA/ Project)
  • Proven experience in change and risk management
  • Sound understanding of construction technology
  • HNC or above in a construction-based subject
  • Black CSCS card
  • Member of professional body preferable
