Project Manager - Geotechnical/Civil Engineering Works

Morson are excited to be working with their client who specialise in the installation of high quality Geotechnical, structural and environmental instrumentation for monitoring earth, rock and concrete structures including dams, tunnels, embankments, retaining walls, piles and steel work for civil engineering works, mining projects and the railway infrastructure throughout the United Kingdom.

Recent major contract awards include several significant packages of work and we are looking for a Project Manager to work in the West London area

We are looking for someone to lead the planning, installation and maintenance activities associated with providing the large scale structural and Geotechnical instrumentation systems required on a new contract.

Core Activities, Duties and Key Tasks:

  • Developing and managing project teams
  • Delivering projects on budget and within the agreed scope and timescales
  • Ensure successful delivery of quality assurance, environmental and Health and Safety Procedures
  • Provide leadership and direction to all team members
  • Take a lead role in administering both contract and programme to meet targets and deliverables
  • Assist in the general development of the business, and act on opportunities for growth
  • Effectively communicate reporting requirements to the Senior Management Team
  • Enforce all policies relating to performance evaluations and career development planning
  • Review specifications and instrumentation designs and guide Project Engineers and clients in production of Monitoring Design Plans to deliver working systems
  • Review and approve internally produced documentation for works on a variety of third party assets such London Underground, Network Rail and other main contractors
  • Review and approve internally produced site specific safety documentation including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, Works package plans, Task Briefing Sheets, etc. for review
  • Manage the implementation, consistency and maintenance of site specific safety documentation
  • Develop relationships with third parties on Projects, to facilitate access requirements
  • Attend site as required to help solve technical issues and to undertake routine/reactive safety inspections
  • Obtain quotations from sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Represent the company at meetings and within various forums with clients, collaborators and suppliers

Experience required

  • Delivering projects on time and within budget 
  • Multi-site project management 
  • Working within the Civil Engineering/Construction industry 
  • Managing teams
  • Working to BSi 9001, 14001 & 18001 standards 
  • Excellent computer literacy skills 
  • Excellent organisational and management information development skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

Knowledge of rail and infrastructure operations / Monitoring, instrumentation and surveys would be an advantage.

Education and qualifications

  • GCSE English, Mathematics and Science (A-C) or equivalent
  • A-Levels or equivalent
  • Relevant University Degree (i.e. Civil Engineering, Surveying, Earth Science etc.) Would be an advantage
  • Driving Licence
