To ensure the effective planning, programming and delivery of projects and contracts to meet cost, quality and safety requirements. To manage and monitor the execution of projects ensuring all resource, procurement and financial requirements are met.
Work closely with bid, sales and engineering teams on sales opportunities, supporting the sales teams by contributing to the development of bids. Ensures the designs created pass proof of concept stage.
Works with sales, customers and engineering to ensure project expectations are clearly interpreted, priorities set and projects scheduled to meet agreed time scale.
Develops project execution plans to ensure contract obligations are accurately scheduled to deliver projects to cost, quality and time.
Determines the engineering resource requirements of a project, ensures they are specified and meet the needs of internal and external customers. Creates detailed project resource plans.
Contributes to developing engineering resourcing plans and defining recruitment and competency requirements of current and pipeline projects.
Liaises with procurement team to ensure materials are accurately specified, comply with company purchasing guidelines and are delivered on schedule. Monitors and provides feedback to purchasing on supplier performance
Monitors project performance, implements change where necessary. Works with the Project Engineers to ensure project methodologies promotes engineering best practice and meets governance and legislative requirements.
Manages all project resources and secures commitment from relevant departments to ensure project activities are delivered to schedule. Highlights potential risks in a timely manner and recommends appropriate action.
Controls cost and performance KPIs, takes necessary action to contain costs within budget. Reviews project risk and delivery at key milestones. Identifies and manages variations, exceptions and changes to agreed contracts, communicates with sales and customers to ensure additional revenue secured.
Capable of leading a project team, optimising their contribution, performance and feeds back on the individual contribution to the project. Identifies training and development needs. Provides ongoing feedback and coaching during project delivery.
Develops and implements project procedure improvements and promotes engineering best practice in all delivery activities.
Ensures project team adherence to policies and current legislation. Monitors Safety, Health, Environmental & and Quality performance and takes appropriate actions to achieve a zero LTA business. Reports on progress to functional and divisional management.
Knowledge and Skills
Proven track record working on high value projects.
Responsibility for leading project team consisting project Engineers, commissioning and sub-contractors.
Lead project programmes for contracts across Electric power markets.
Liaise with Programme Management and Engineering disciplines / Application / Design teams to develop programmes and resource plans for project delivery activities.
Manage cost quality and schedule for project programmes
Liaise with customers and end users as project lead
Management of all Project records and documentation for contract compliance and in accordance with company and ISO procedures and processes
Liaise with engineering and product support teams to ensure all projects are handed over to product support for warranty and O&M contracts with all required engineering records
Engineering degree or equivalent and min 5 years relevant experience
Experience of managing a team of professional engineers and project teams
Experience of electrical , mechanical systems and process control equipment in electric power or oil and gas applications
Experience of operation of CDM
HSE, QA system implementation
Attention to detail
Microsoft Office/MS project experience
Major infrastructure or technical project delivery experience
Experience of generator installations an advantage
Project management qualifications desirable
