We have an opportunity for Project Engineering Manager based at either Cumbria or Risley
For the DHAWC projects to organize, lead, coordinate and direct a multi-discipline design engineering team (including technical, safety case and supply chain as applicable) delivering specific engineering design work packages to deliver the programme needs.
The DHAWC projects are currently emerging Studies and are expected to initiate at IPDG (Initiate Project Design Gate) in Quarter 1 of FY 2019/20.
Initially the requirements of this role will be to develop the scope and delivery strategies and then support the IPDG submissions.
The role is currently envisaged to be 60% of an FTE until around the IPDG for RHILW Phase 1 (approx. May 2019).
Responsibilities will include:
The primary responsibilities will be as follows
Act at the design team lead and co-ordinate cross discipline delivery.
Lead the definition of project scope
Focus the design team on cost, quality and schedule,
Co-ordinate & provide design input to estimate and planning activities
Co-ordinate & provide design input to project reporting activities
Engage with and build relationships with operations stakeholders (System engineering, operations, maintenance)
Engage with and build relationships with delivery stakeholders (construction, commissioning, PMs, project controls)
Engage design partners to aid delivery and manage design scope contracts
Manage design quality assurance activities
Act as (or support the SL SPEM) in the role of CDM Principal Designer
Co-ordinate and oversee design compliance with regulations
Set the engineering standards for delivery
Previous PEM experience (Mechanical Handling Projects)
