Our Qatar based client BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services (BSL) is recruiting a Project Engineer on a permanent basis in Qatar.
The Project Engineer will have an aerospace/defence engineering background and will operate one or more of the project management processes on a project or be responsible for some aspects of project management processor for supporting more senior staff on a larger project.
At this level the incumbent will be expected to work independently on routine aspects of the activity, and under guidance and supervision in more complex situations.
They would have a level of knowledge in one or more areas of project management practice and be expected to apply in routine circumstances and to seek and follow guidance on their adaptation and application in more complex circumstances.
The role holder may be required to carry out additional or alternative tasks from time to time, subject to holding the appropriate qualifications
The role involves but is not limited to the following:
Intermediate project reporting
Intermediate project scheduling
Intermediate problem solving, based on previous experience and knowledge
Administration and general office skills including spreadsheets/Microsoft packages
Develop a knowledge of business processes and procedures
Attend on the job training as appropriate (typically year 5 of a PM Apprenticeship or the Graduate Development Framework)

Qualifications/Functional Knowledge
Functional Knowledge
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of PM processes, procedures and systems
Knowledge and understanding of his or her project
Project Management experience demonstrated in a professional role within a project
Good understanding of one or more Project Management tools techniques and practices
Knowledge of the business environment for project
Knowledge of project management governance and assurance processes such as Integrated Baseline Reviews
Experience of working with stakeholders inside the company
Ability to find and adopt best practice
Knowledge acquired through job related training and considerable on the job experience, generally non-theoretical skills
Business Expertise
Understanding of project, its markets, customer, strategic priorities and culture
Some understanding of the wider project management environment, and of developments and practices in the field
Some understanding of the structure, organisation, processes and culture of the project, so as to be able to support implementation of appropriate Project Management approaches
A good understanding of how team integrates with other teams in order to achieve objectives
Business acumen that goes beyond immediate team
Qualifications
Role typically requires a university degree, or an extensive amount of practical knowledge gained through experience
Leadership
Accountable as a member of the project management team for supporting development and implementation of appropriately tailored Project Management practices
Accountable for ensuring one or more aspects of Project Management practices in the project are suitable for purpose
No staff supervisory responsibilities

Applies problem solving techniques to routine situations or situations of moderate complexity under supervision, in the field of Project Management, taking requirements and data from internal (capability) sources and external (customer, competitor and academic) areas
Gathers information. Supports development of solutions and of implementation approaches
Problem solving most likely to apply in an existing business environment
Ability to make judgements on analysis of factual information
The role requires an individual to make sound judgements based on previous experience
Nature of Impact
Limited indirect impact on the project IBP
Impact in terms of providing services/information on matters that assist others in controlling or making decisions
Work is within standardised procedures and practices, accuracy of tasks is impactful.
Area of Impact
Minor potential impacts only indirectly on the IBP of the project, having responsibility for the effectiveness of some aspects of the Project Management processes
