We have an opportunity for a Project Engineer based at Sellafield, Cumbria.
This role is inside IR35
An existing Electrical Distribution System (EDS) was originally installed in the 1950's, with the majority of the equipment and associated cabling far exceeding the original design life expectancy, and in urgent need of attention.
The EDS project aims to provide a safe, reliable and maintainable system to comply with statutory instruments and the latest British and Sellafield Ltd standards.
Each of the project 'tasks' are at different stages of the project lifecycle, with some having reached completion, whilst others are just completing detailed design.
Working with the current SL Project Management team, the Project Engineer will be site based and support the implementation phases across the EDS portfolio within the agreed baseline. This will include co-ordination of all construction and energisation elements across the portfolio.
Specific responsibilities are:
Delivering fit for purpose work in a safe manner to meet or better the project baseline cost, schedule and quality requirements.
Working within IPT to support development of execution strategies and plans in line with the overall portfolio.
Liaison with IWM & plant representatives to develop robust, timely and co-ordinated planning.
Liaison with construction co-ordinators to ensure successful completion of the tasks in hand.
Liaison with plant's maintenance support team and utilise to support development and planning of change-over works.
Ensuring all relevant project risks are identified and managed / mitigated as appropriate.
Creation of RFQ's and requirements to complete tender with OSW
Creating and / or supporting development of relevant documentation to support pre job briefs, contractor's management meetings, method statements, risk assessments etc.
Supporting creation of plant documentation (PMP's / Plant Instructions) to support construction work stream.
Regular monitoring of the residual risks / issues / constraints and exclusions
Encourage zero concessions.
HNC qualified (preferably CE&I related)
Work will be electrical (power) bias. Previous electrical experience is highly desirable
Self-starting and driven, taking ownership of the tasks required to be completed under their remit
In-depth knowledge and experience of site processes and procedures with respect to contractor engagement, installation and commissioning
In-depth knowledge and experience of construction delivery within alpha facilities and monitoring utilising the SL Management System.
In-depth knowledge and experience in the PMP process
Knowledge and experience of CDM regulations and able to provide support to the Project Manager
Knowledge and experience in SL quality systems
Comfortable working under time and cost constraints
Minimum of monitored worker status is essential
MS Office suite of programmes and SL I.T system access
DV clearance & P4 pass desirable.
