Tata Chemicals Europe (TCE) is the UK's sole producer of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, as well as the market leading producer of salt. We are also one of Europe's leading producers of these and other related products.
There are exciting times ahead for us as we embark on major investment across all our manufacturing sites in Cheshire to grow the business and deliver reliable high quality products into increasingly diverse markets. This programme of investment and development at our Lostock site includes major infrastructure projects that will secure our position as a market leader in the production of Soda Ash.
Job purpose statement:
Effectively manage a portfolio of mechanical engineering projects and asset management improvement for the Soda Ash business at Lostock.
Manage Engineering Governance to ensure legislative compliance: timely approval of scope and EXPs for all 'major' PSSR Pressure Vessel Inspections to ensure effective execution within legal time constraints (liaise with Notified Body for modifications/repairs to PVs); 'major' Storage Tanks and their associated Bunds. Manage a formal inspection programme and expedite resultant remediation.
Manage the complete life-cycle (design, fabrication, construction, commissioning) of all projects to ensure delivery to safety, cost, time and quality expectations of internal and external stakeholders; create and fully complete a Project Plan for all Capex Projects. Enforce CDM regulation as required and conduct formal safety audits for all projects.
Ensure all applicable legislative and company engineering standards are adopted and enforced for all projects; including CDM and Contractor management.
Derive Asset Management Plans (Eng & Ops) for 'major' mechanical assets (including preventative maintenance, major overhauls and replacement plans) to maximise operational effectiveness; offer technical support to, and closely liaise with Maintenance and Ops.
Identify all redundant assets and manage their safe removal as part of a formal, progressive programme to improve the working environment of our plants.
Contribute to the criticality assessment for all mechanical assets in order to derive 'major' assets and drive associated asset care plans, in close liaison with Ops.
HNC/HND (NVQ4) qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
Knowledge and experience of Ammonia Soda process and plants.
Highly experienced in Contractor Management
Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to work within a team
Well organized with the ability to plan and manage budgets and project timelines
High professional standards of personal work and expectations of others
Familiar with Capex project procedures and full range of statutory and Company engineering procedures
