Project Engineer - Permanent Position based in Middlewich, Cheshire.

Tata Chemicals Europe is of one of Europe's leading producers of sodium carbonate, salt, sodium bicarbonate and other products. We are part of Tata Chemicals (TCL), the world's second largest producer of soda ash and the world's third largest producer of sodium bicarbonate, with facilities in Asia, Africa and North America in addition to the UK.

Our history dates back to 1874 when manufacturing first began in Northwich and were acquired by Tata Chemicals in 2005. By 2011 we had also acquired British Salt, the UK's leading manufacturer of pure dried vacuum salt products, based in Middlewich.
It is for this site in Middlewich that we are seeking a Project Engineer to join.

Job Purpose:

To manage a range of engineering and civil projects for the Asset Management and Engineering teams in the Salt & Sodium Bicarbonate business unit.

Understand the needs of the Asset Management and Engineering teams and provide technical engineering support in order to deliver projects that ensure the on-going safety, reliability and statutory compliance of the business assets and to deliver business improvement.

Lead the management, installation and commissioning of projects so that they are delivered to excellent standards of cost, quality, time and safety.

Comply with all relevant procedures related to food safety requirements and good manufacturing practices when working in designated areas.

Develop and maintain a professional competence in and awareness of current health and safety regulations relating to the delivery of projects including: CDM, management of contractors.

Deputise for the Asset Manager as required.

Develop and maintain good professional working relationships with the Engineer Managers, Production Managers and site engineers to maximise engineering knowledge and learning in the successful delivery of engineering projects for the business.

Skills and Experience required:

Mechanical Engineering Degree seeking chartered status

Desirable: Achieved chartered status. Appropriate training in LSS

Good interpersonal skills in order to be able to work with people from all levels of the organization

Well organized and excellent communication

Sets for self and demonstrates high professional standards

Must be familiar with or acquire the knowledge of project and capital project control procedures as well as becoming familiar with the full range of statutory and Company engineering procedures
The ability to successfully manage budgets and projects and deadlines within financial constraints.
