Project Accountant; Location: New Malden
Duration: 6 Months; Hours: 37 per week
Pay: £33.00 LTD per hour or £26.65 PAYE

Purpose of Role

We are currently recruiting a temporary Project Accountant to be based at our client's site in New Malden Surrey.
This is an interesting and varied role working with and assisting the Project Finance Manager in the financial management and control of the Integration Services programmes, covering about 100 varied projects. Providing high quality financial support and advice to the Project and Management teams to ensure successful contract execution and delivery of IBP targets

Major Tasks and Activities

Provide Project Accounting support, challenge and advice to the Project teams through active engagement in Bids, Project Risk reviews and Contract Reviews
Compliance with all elements of company processes and application of Systems Finance Policies and Financial Controls
Assist CAMs and Project Managers in the production of robust cost estimates to complete and forecast updates. Completion of all weekly and monthly forecasting as required
Analyse, review, challenge and advise on performance data ensuring data integrity between the various systems
Maintenance and review of the project Contract Status Reports and Summary Status Reports including relevant comments to aid management understanding of movements and variances
Work with the Project teams and others to ensure all deliverables for the Integrated Business Plan (IBP) are achieved

Additional Key Accountabilities

Produce Project Cost Certificates and SSRO inputs as required and support their audits, investigating and resolving queries
Diligently and accurately complete Financial Controls Framework Control Owner Self-Assessments
Attendance and contribution to project and functional meetings as appropriate
Support the achievement of programme and functional quality targets

Qualifications and skills required

Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with demonstrable experience of financially managing contracts
Good analytical skills
Competent user of MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint. Able to manipulate and present data for a range of end users, including non-Financial personnel
Understanding of Earned Value techniques and reporting
Knowledge of SAP desirable but not a pre-requisite
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential as the role will have frequent contact with project managers and CAMs as well as working alongside 2 Project Accountants in the area and wider functional staff
Excellent relationship building skills - needs to earn the trust of non-finance team members
Ability to influence cross-functionally and across the project team
