Our Qatar based client BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services (BSL) is recruiting a Programme Manager on a permanent basis in Qatar.

The Programme Manager will have an in-depth knowledge and application of PM principles and techniques with an aerospace/defence engineering background and will will run a small to medium project, or possibly a work package or other part of a larger complex project/programme.

There may be some sub-contracts involved and the programme may use new or emerging technology. This programme may consist of a number of projects/contracts or work packages, each in its own right requiring Project Managers or CAMS to manage them. The role will involve the management of a programme management team, with liaison with other business functions being essential to the delivery of the programme.

The role holder may be required to carry out additional or alternative tasks from time to time, subject to holding the appropriate qualifications.

The role involves but is not limited to the following:

Provide leadership and management for the assigned project/programme.

Take responsibility for project/programme delivery.

Identify and develop new business opportunities adjacent to the project/programme.

Financially plan and achieve acceptable business financial objectives for orders, sales, gross margin and cash.

Monitor and report project/programme performance for schedule, technical, financial and quality objectives.

Establish and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships maintaining regular communications and managing expectations.

Take responsibility for achieving customer satisfaction.

Proactively manage emerging risks and opportunities to the benefit of the project/programme.

Oversee the development, establishment and continuous improvement and tailoring of procedures and guidelines for operation of the project/programme, ensuring adherence to the Operational Framework and LCM mandates.

Evaluate the performance of subordinates using appropriate objectives and ensuring continuous coaching to enhance their capability.

Pro-actively engage with the talent management process.

Understanding of the Customer Organisation


Role typically requires a university degree, or an extensive amount of practical knowledge gained through experience


The role holder will be required to manage a small team

Problems will typically be solved through building relationships and using a variety of sources of information, answers cannot be gained from policies & procedures

Nature of Impact

The role holder is responsible for ensuring the work of the team is of a quality standard

The role holder is responsible for providing advice & guidance to the leadership team in managing their CSR, identifying opportunities and risks

Area of Impact

Impacts indirectly on the IBP of the line of business or project, having responsibility for the responsibility of some aspects of the Project Management processes

Interpersonal Skills

Effective and credible communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

Motivational and inspiring in leading the team

Diplomatic in dealing with Customer representatives

Good level of English, written & verbal
