Programme Manager required to be responsible for ensuring successful execution and delivery of allocated programmes within the Portsmouth site. This can include full lifecycle programmes from New Product Introduction to existing Aerospace programmes with full accountability to ensure on-time and budget delivery to the required quality level whilst maximising financial returns for the business.

Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the PM will provide the leadership and drive to a multi-functional project team accountable for meeting agreed customer requirements and programme goals in line with the company Programme Management Manual and accompanying Programme Management policies.

The role involves but is not limited to the following:

The execution and delivery of the programme through the full lifecycle of the product/programme often from initial development through certification and initial production to steady state production and in-service product support.

To lead and motivate an Integrated Programme Team to meet programme goals and objectives by providing direction and control through robust planning, goal setting, prioritisation and communication.

To create a robust plan clearly detailing key activities and deliverables. Maintain this plan throughout the programme and utilise as a tool to communicate as well as monitor/control progress.

Plan and manage each programme against clearly defined and agreed customer requirements and contractual deliverables. Use formal change processes (both customer and internal GKN) to manage any change or deviation involving the Commercial Dept. as appropriate maintaining suitable configuration control.

Provide clear, accurate and dynamic delivery forecast information to the business. Manage the programme to meet or exceed delivery forecast maximising Delivery Schedule Adherence (DSA). Where issues or risks occur that threaten delivery, create a robust, achievable recovery plan and ensure the team and supporting functions are on-board to support this plan and provide regular progress updates to the Head of Programmes.

Ensure resource and capability requirements are defined and deployed within or supporting the IPT to ensure success. Where conflict arises, manage and resolve with peers and functional managers and report/escalate to Head of Programmes where appropriate.

To build strong customer relationships acting as the primary point of contact for customer communication and liaison, keeping customers informed of programme status, risks/issues and resolution plans. Ensure customer satisfaction is maintained at all times and manage customer expectations in-line with company priorities and capabilities.

To effectively manage risks, issues and opportunities through robust processes and working with the appropriate stakeholders to assess, building risk mitigation measures into the programme as required.

Provide accurate and timely programme performance reporting information to the Head of Programmes to support the monthly reporting cycle. In addition, ensure any arising programme/business critical issues or risks are escalated in a timely manner together with an appropriate resolution strategy.

Ensuring the management of programmes adheres to the company's programme management, commercial and financial policies/processes. Adopt continuous improvement culture to ensure process and methodology to maximise effectiveness and implementation within the business.

Candidates should be delivery focused and able to develop workable solutions which are acceptable to the customer and in line with company goals and have demonstrable experience in Programme Management roles that required the meeting of customer requirements through the delivery of other people and teams. Will have managed large design and development projects in a technical, multi-functional environment.

Experience of managing large project portfolios in excess of £4m and experienced in stakeholder and supplier management as well as project governance, risk and resource management.

Ideally candidates should be experienced in delivering high value, low & medium volume programmes within the aerospace industry.

Formally accredited Project Management qualification e.g. APM/Prince 2/PMI/PMP or equivalent is required.
