Our successful client has an immediate requirement for a talented Production Engineer, to join their dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
The continuous improvement of both new and existing manufacturing methods and processes
Providing engineering assistance to all other departments with special regard to value engineering, product development and manufacturing supervision
Operating as a key integral member of the Manufacturing Engineering team in the day-to-day running of the Department such that all objectives can be met.
Work with other departments, such as H&S, R&D, mechanical and electrical engineers, sales, procurement, manufacturing, planning etc to ensure all product and system requirements are taken into account from the initial product conception to the finished result
Design new systems, equipment and processes for the introduction of new products or for the improvement of existing ones
Formulate, justify and implement capital investment projects with due consideration of both current and future manufacturing requirements within agreed timescales and objectives.
Examine, tender for, install and commission new equipment. Liaise with Procurement, suppliers and customers as appropriate
Supervise sub-contractors and ensure effective communication in order to avoid errors
Plan and organise equipment maintenance procedures
Identify faults, investigate production problems and repair equipment quickly and efficiently when required
Improve current operations wherever possible
Organise plant start-up and shut-down schedules to ensure minimum loss of production time and profits
Keep up to date with current and developing trends in the manufacturing industry, at a national and international level.
Improve process flow through plant layout from concept and drawings to implementation.
Control and maintain Engineering Departmental copies of all company standards, procedures and COSHH data.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Essential: HNC in an Engineering subject, or extensive appropriate experience. Good working knowledge of manufacturing practices, good communication skills, fluent in English both written and spoken, self-motivated, team player, PC literate, CAD user.
Desirable: Degree in an Engineering subject. Supplier / Customer facing skills, report writing, sheet metal manufacturing knowledge, Lean training. Experience of Radan / Inventor software.
