Our client a leading Oil & Gas Operator are seeking a Production Engineer for a Staff role.

Position Overview

The Production Engineer will be responsible for the management of day-to-day field operations and optimisation of reservoir, well and process plant performance. The Production Engineer will ensure that all reservoir zones are depleted in a way that maximises economic production without compromising ultimate recovery.

Accountabilities

Maximisation of economic production through optimisation of reservoir, well and process plant performance
Identification, justification and execution of opportunities to improve production through well intervention or modifications to the process and water injection systems
Generation of short-term production forecasts
Interaction with OGA with regard to submittal of elements of the Stewardship returns and the management of production and flare consents
Manage studies carried out by 3rd party contractors and vendors
Support the Company's process of change and continual improvement

Key Duties

Production Optimisation

Monitor daily production and ensure that reservoirs and wells are performing as expected. Investigate and resolve any anomalies. Work with the Operations group to agree short term production strategy and targets, monitor performance against agreed targets and help manage production "losses"
Understand and control reservoir displacement processes to help optimise the economic recovery
Ensure all fields and wells produce to their peak potential - continuously review fields and well performance and identify opportunities
Develop and maintain an artificial lift strategy, and a process for optimising the artificial lift systems adopted. Ensure the strategy is communicated, understood and applied by the Operations group
Identify, justify and promote opportunities to improve production and/or reduce costs by optimisation of artificial lift systems, sweep pattern alterations, well interventions or other means
Support other groups to justify and implement opportunities (e.g. facilities upgrades)

Well Management

Develop and maintain a full-life well management strategy for all wells
Develop data acquisition programmes to monitor reservoir performance to verify reservoir management strategy and to provide information to help identify business opportunities and reduce risk
Analysis and interpretation of acquired field data
Work with Wells Engineering group on aspects of new well design such as selection of completion interval, tubing design, ESP/gas lift design, data acquisition programme etc
Work with Wells Management group to prioritise and schedule well intervention work

Process Optimisation
Monitor process plant (e.g. separators, gas compressors, etc.) and ensure that it is performing optimally, e.g. flaring is minimised, and the export oil and produced water discharged is within specification
Monitor water injection system and ensure that it is performing optimally, e.g. quality of injection water is with specification.
Work with production chemist to ensure usage of chemicals is optimised
Develop and maintain a strategy and procedures for optimising the performance of the process plant and water injection system
Ensure the strategy is communicated, understood and applied by the Operations group
Identify, justify and promote opportunities to improve production and/or reduce costs by optimisation of the process plant and water injection system

Data Management and Administration

Prepare reasonably accurate forecasts of short-term production which are consistent with facilities constraints and current work programmes
Maintain a comprehensive, accessible, up-to-date record of re-forecasts
Ensure forecasts are consistent with corporate Life of Field forecasts and reserve estimates
Prepare elements of the Stewardship return to OGA
Management of production and flare consent process
Maintain a database of production and injection volumes of all reservoir fluids. Ensure that produced and injected fluids are properly allocated to individual wells and zones
Maintain a comprehensive, accessible, up-to-date record of all well data

Other

Other duties consistent with employees expertise and status may also be assigned according to business needs
The key internal interfaces in the role are with Operations (both onshore and offshore) and the functional groups in Subsurface & Wells, Production Management and HSE & Technical Services.
