Product safety Support Engineer
Contract 6 Months
Location: Portsmouth
Pay Rate: Negotiable

Role Overview

To assist the Platform Safety Manager in the delivery of the Platform Safety and Environmental programme
To ensure project compliance with UK and International Legislation
To ensure project compliance with JSP 430, JSP 375 and JSP 418
To lead on Hazard identification and Safety Assessments
Update platform hazard log with outputs from Hazard Identifications and safety assessments
Manage and update hazard log with OEM & Equipment Safety Case reports
Support Platform Safety Manager at Safety Committee and working group meetings
Manage all safety related actions from the Platform Data Capture and Analysis Tool Key
Understanding of MoD safety management activities and processes, i.e. JSP 430 and the ALARP process
A good working knowledge of SMARTer or other hazard management tools
Completing and overseeing the production and presentation of reports
Carrying out safety analysis and research activities
Ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities and deadlines
Able to work under pressure and be able to schedule, coordinate and to maintain efficiency
Credible presentation skills Key Leadership/People Mgmt Skills
Ability to facilitate group decision-making, team building and conflict resolution
Scheduling, resourcing and managing teams, in conjunction with others
Scheduling, resourcing and planning work operations/interactions with other managers heading up specific areas/functions
Attention to detail in the identification and assessment of the evolving workload and additional pressures this may bring
To develop effective strategies for negotiating with stakeholders; positive lateral thinking to develop innovative organisational and workforce solutions Company/Industry Knowledge:
Maintain technical knowledge and keep abreast of industry initiatives/updates.
Working knowledge of MOD Safety & Environmental Management Systems

WE SEEK A PRODUCT SAFETY SUPPORT ENGINEER WHO HAS WORKED IN A MILITARY/DEFENCE ENVIRONMENT/INDUSTRY WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS OR WHO IS CAPABLE OF OBTAINING SECURITY CLEARANCE (SC LEVEL MINIMUM)
