Principle Transport Modeller

Morson are recruiting for a Principle Transport Modeller to join our client London.

Key Accountabilities
*In support of our clients Network Management Duty, through the use of advanced modelling techniques, plan and supervise the provision of detailed network impact assessments of schemes, to analyse the impact changes to the road network, and support our clients Traffic Manager's Network Performance Delivery (NPD) team.
*Following detailed multi-modal network modelling, devise and implement traffic signal timings and strategies in order to ensure the efficient operation of the traffic network, in accordance with the Transport Strategy. To manage the delivery of traffic signal timing reviews including detailed design.
*In relation to the assessment and optimisation of transport schemes in London, provide specialist technical and analytical transport modelling guidance to clients, consultants, sponsors, highway authorities, designers and internal staff on issues covering highway traffic assignment (HTA), demand, deterministic, pedestrian, environmental and microsimulation models.
*Supervise modellers to develop, audit and enhance the design of schemes through the use of TRANSYT, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY, VISSIM, SATURN, VISUM, AIMSUN, LEGION etc and drive the area of expertise forward by pioneering new techniques or applications of existing techniques.
*Give specialist guidance and training to the team in support of the development of strategic and tactical modelling capability through demand and traffic assignment methodologies, techniques and applications.
*Plan, review, influence and supervise assessment studies in relation to traffic control strategies, modelling applications and developing innovative techniques.
*Liaise and collaborate with relevant external partners, suppliers and stakeholders to develop best practice and interfaces between modelling platforms. To evaluate new software and assess its suitability for use in NPD.
*Provide expertise in the processes required to successfully audit a fit for purpose traffic model by administering updates to Model Audit Process (MAP). Encourage best practice by continually revising our clients Traffic Modelling Guidelines.
*Support and monitor the progress of the teams work, against agreed work schedules, identifying and agreeing corrective actions where necessary.


Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Skills
Demonstrate experience as lead consultant in at least two modelling projects

Knowledge
*Chartered or incorporated engineer/modeller with relevant experience in traffic modelling and scheme design
*Industry leading, specialist in-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant modelling tools such as TRANSYT, LINSIG, PARAMICS, VISSIM, SATURN, VISUM, AIMSUN, LEGION etc.
*Considerable expertise in the practical application of traffic assignment (SATURN, VISUM or AIMSUN) and micro-simulation (VISSIM, AIMSUN or PARAMICS) tools.
Experience
*Experience in strategic / tactical / microsimulation modelling in accordance to TfL's modelling guidance, such as the Traffic Modelling Guidelines.
*Good working knowledge, experience and understanding of relevant modelling tools such as LINSG, TRANSYT, TranEd2, etc., and how they relate to strategic modelling.
