Principle Technical Author

A leading defence client based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria, is seeking an experience Technical Author. This is initially a 12 month contract but likely to be extended.

Job Description

The Principal Engineer (Operating Documentation) will undertake authoring tasks in the support of the delivery of Submarine's Ship Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Dreadnought. Activities may be undertaken alone or as the lead of an Operating Documentation Publications Team producing SOPs with the support of an the Project Leader Engineer (Operating Documentation) and Design Authority. The duties of the role are to utilise best practice & Lfe from In-service submarines, professional engineering judgement, initiative and skill in discharging allocated Operational Publications tasks in a positive manner within required constraints to produce consistent and coherent outputs.

Responsibilities and Skills

Support Documentation & Information - General Understanding Understand and implement OPDOC processes, standards and style guides Generate soft copy Operating Documentation using the Basic MS Office toolset (MS WORD) Undertake / Witness Verification and Validation of Operating Documentation

Support the Table Top Technical Reviews

Support the authorisation process Collate deliveries of data to the IETP production team Nuclear Experience an advantage

Maritime experience and understanding of Marine systems.

Provide reporting measures and updates to Management and Customer.

Timescales and deliverables are achieved within the available budget

Pay Rate £35.08 PAYE/ £44.21
