An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a growing team of Electronic Enclosure design engineers to develop mechanical solutions to ensure cutting edge electronic equipment survives in the harshest of environments (Land/Air/Sea) whilst maintaining full functionality over many years of service.
The successful candidate will undertake all necessary activities in the Mechanical design, development and proving activities of Electronic equipment throughout the product life cycle (Concept à develop à sustain).
Undertake Work Package Management activities (design cycle scheduling, budgeting and resource profiling) for assigned projects to ensure delivery on time, on cost, on quality.
Manage physical interfaces between internal customers, suppliers and subcontractors
Contribute to Mechanical Engineering improvement activities including internal research and development (IRAD) and Mechanical Design/analysis method harmonisation with our international teams.

What are we looking for?
Ideally a recognised higher level qualification in Mechanical Design, plus relevant engineering experience in Mechanical design and development using appropriate engineering tools and techniques:
High level of capability in the use of industry standard 3D CAD packages such as PTC Creo, CATIA, PRO Engineer etc.
An understanding of FEA analysis techniques (Finite Element Analysis) to assist in rapid development of designs.
Experience of operating in an environment employing development techniques such as FMEA, DFA, DFM etc.
Evidence of design capability from first principles.
Definition of bespoke Mechanical Packaging designs to house PCB assemblies.
Generation of physical PCB assembly models and electronic data exchange to PCB tracking/processing tools.
Design development planning capability.
Excellent problem solving skills.
You will have a willing, helpful attitude and a calm professional manner, able to set priorities and deal with multiple issues.
Good commercial and financial understanding to ensure value engineering.
Negotiating and influencing skills.
Highly developed communication skills: able to communicate verbally and in writing.
Good cultural awareness and the ability to work in a diverse environment.
Knowledge of the business, its operations and company goals and developments.
