Job Description As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be working within a small, highly skilled team managing a variety of stakeholders, including suppliers, the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy. You will be defining and agreeing solutions for individual subsystems within the overall Type 26 communications system, including the design, installation, integration and acceptance on the ship, both physical and functional. This role will provide you with an opportunity to work with the latest technology and have a chance to implement this into a strategically important complex warship design and manufacture programme. Location flexible and can be any of - Filton / Broad Oak / Scotstoun. Responsibilities Your main responsibilities as a Principal Systems Engineer (Communications) will involve: Work with suppliers to define the planning, control and conduct of acceptance activities Maintain functional and physical data in the T26 Integrated Architecture Framework Be the subject matter expert for individual subsystems Manage technical change within the Communications System design Be the point of contact for your area of responsibility Support the Operations team for installation of the Communications System

Skills and qualifications: Essential: Background in system engineering preferably with knowledge of military communications systems Broad knowledge of project Life Cycle Management Experience of supplier technical management Experience of authoring and peer review of technical reports Degree in Engineering or Scientific Discipline or relevant experience Knowledge of applicable NATO/US communications standards Good understanding of import/export control processes (UK, EU& US - EAR/ITAR) would be advantageous Incorporated Engineer Desirable: Engineering background in Royal Navy/Military communications, , voice/data/radio products The ideal candidate for this role will be an effective communicator both written and verbal and be able to develop and manage complex and conflicting relationships with a variety of stakeholders, influencing others as and when required. You also need to be proactive and able to work on your own initiative, and have a flexible approach to the tasks required within your role. You will have proven experience in Systems Engineering across the whole lifecycle.
