PRINCIPAL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

The Structures Team of a Top Tier Main Contractor currently have the requirement for an experienced Structural Engineer to support the Chief Structural Engineer in delivering on a number of projects over the coming months.
The level of experience required for the role is expected to ideally suit a Chartered Structural Engineer with about 15 years of experience.
Operating at Principal Structural Engineer level.
Current projects include civil/structural alterations to a major exhibition centre, bridge assessment, and OHT crane
Replacement structural checks & investigation of latent defects / support to current and past projects.

* Ability to coordinate with key disciplines within Design Group and with site personnel and
* Regional Chief Engineers
* Ability to act as a team player and be flexible in work approach
* Ability to carry out structural design in reinforced concrete and structural steelwork to current
* Eurocodes
* Ability to review and assess structural capacity of existing structures, including identifying
* design or construction error and identifying appropriate solutions
* Good understanding of long term performance of structures, including shrinkage, thermal
* Movement, axial shortening and effects on waterproofing
* Willingness to support team members and provide guidance, where required, to all members
* of the team
* A good working knowledge of Masterseries suite of programs to version 2016
* Willingness to travel on occasions to attend meetings, present to clients and to carry out
* Surveys and inspections, and prepare reports
* Understanding of ground conditions and in particular piling issues, including interpretation of
* autographic outputs and integrity testing
* Ability to advise construction project teams on good construction practice in all structural
* materials


Additional Skills which would be considered
· Working knowledge of Masterseries 2018 (ESSENTIAL)

* Working knowledge of REVIT
* Working knowledge of ROBOT
* Working knowledge of AUTOCAD
* Structural bridge design / assessment experience
* Working knowledge of Autodesk Structural Bridge designer
* Ability to design in timber and masonry and advise on construction defects
