Key Result Areas

  • To provide signalling project engineering support to allocated Alstom contracts
  • Attendance at the bi-monthly technical brief and completion of any necessary onward briefs to Alstom & sub-contract staff.
  • Ensure allocated Alstom contracts are technically compliant with relevant Group and client standards
  • Act as technical contact and liaison with clients and subcontractors in order to resolve technical issues within projects
  • Ensure integration of design, installation and testing and that the end product meets the client specification and has technical integrity
  • Carry out risk assessments
  • Attend engineering reviews as required for allocated contracts
  • Contribute to team briefing process
  • Assist in the production or checking of method statements or work plans
  • Act as CRE and/or CEM on contracts as and when required
  • Liaise with signalling, telecoms, power, systems and other disciplines to ensure successful project engineering
  • Application of 'yellow book' engineering principles
  • Ensure technical change within the project is managed effectively
  • Highlight any project derogations or temporary non-compliances required by the project, liaising with the Signalling Engineering Manager to apply for them
  • Carry out technical audits as a means of ensuring the project is following agreed applicable standards and practices
  • Assist with possession planning
  • Advise the design team on RAMS
  • Provide input to the development of the Business Management System.

  • Engineering Manager (Lead Engineer) (6.8.110) plus module
  • F (Project Engineer) or Project Engineer 1.2.230 IRSE licence.
  • MSc or BSc degree level education in an engineering discipline


  • Experience of working in signalling design, installation or testing, with an in-depth knowledge of railway construction methods and materials used
