Job Purpose

To be the company's lead technical authority for discipline specific engineering activities, and manage a pool of resource to support delivery of these activities. To develop schedules for the technical aspects of work packages and to drive delivery to these, ensuring that deliverables are proportionate and align with the needs of the business whilst meeting all relevant technical requirements. To ensure appropriate governance arrangements and processes are in place to support your approval of your team's output. To develop and maintain a capable and high performing team of engineers to effectively support the business.

Accountable for the Delivery of Appropriate Engineering Solutions

• Identification of proportionate and appropriate design solutions
• Developing, reviewing and approving achievable project plans and schedules such that the proposed packages of work can be effectively delivered to time and schedule.
• Managing delivery of design deliverables to time and budget.
• Managing a team with appropriate SQEP capability to deliver schedule commitments
• Providing professional leadership and guidance to all engineers of your discipline on site

Accountable for Management and Development of a Team of Engineers

• Resource and performance management of internal discipline-specific Engineers and Engineering contractors/agency personnel where required.
• Ensuring that core skills levels, training needs and software/tools are maintained and developed across the discipline to meet nuclear industry standards and professional norms.
• Development of team members to maintain capability and enhance competence

Experience needed

• A minimum of 10 years' experience in a highly technical engineering position
• Experience of managing resources to build and maintain a competent, high performing team
