Role Summary This individual will ideally hold Chartered Engineer professional status and be a member of a recognised engineering institution with demonstrable successful project experience within the Oil and Gas or Marine Industries. A thorough understanding of UKCS regulatory requirements and classification society rule sets will be essential. The individual is required to be a "Subject Matter Expert" within the Naval Architecture discipline and ideally have previous experience of FPSO conversion projects. Experience in similar offshore conversion or build projects would also be beneficial. Responsibilities The individual will work within a small engineering team on an upcoming FEED development project with specific responsibilities to include: 1. Leading the Naval Architectural team; 2. Undertaking a functional assessment of legacy ship configuration/information; 3. Developing Naval Architectural discipline suitable for basic design/FEED Phase with a view to Project Execution; 4. Leading on the development of the following engineering documents; Hull Technical Specifications; Weight Control, Trim and Stability. 5. Undertaking and documenting the following Naval Architectural design assessments Model Testing. 6. Supporting the development of the following by the Naval Architectural team: Arrangement Drawings; Plans; Calculations; Fire Protections Studies; Safety Studies. 7. Participating and chairing internal and external (with customer) design review processes; 8. Leading on engagement with the classification society for Design Approval In Principle; 9. Ensuring adherence to company the safety, quality and engineering governance processes; 10. Providing general Naval Architectural support to the project team; 11. Ensuring that procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities; 12. Ensure task and project risks are communicated and managed appropriately; 13. Produce, review and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports, in accordance with task and project requirements; 14. Assessing the implications of changes, concessions and queries; 15. Maintaining the engineering configuration, ensuring the overall design intent and integrity is maintained throughout design lifecycle; 16. Contribute to process improvements within the design lifecycle to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and cost; 17. Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements; 18. Provide support to the Project Manager for the planning, control and delivery of tasks and projects; 19. Support the identification of business opportunities and the preparation of bids, in area(s) of expertise, to facilitate the development of successful bids; 20. Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development; 21. Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority: 22. Ensure required review, verification and approval of work is undertake; 23. Act as Technical Authority when authorised to do so by Chief Engineer or delegated authority; 24. When assigned fulfil role as Engineering Lead for simple multi discipline tasks and projects.
Qualifications & Experience
Engineering or Science degree qualification in relevant discipline, with significant demonstrable experience or HND qualified with significant demonstrable engine
