Principal Mechanical Engineer (Compression & Packaged Equipment) - Hersham - 6 Months +

Summary
We are looking for a Principal Compression & Packaged Equipment Engineer with significant industry experience to join the engineering team based in our Hersham UK office.

Our client is developing and building the world's largest green ammonia project in Saudi Arabia to sustainably supply carbon-free green hydrogen for transportation globally. The successful candidate will act as package responsible engineer for one of the major compression packages and its associated packaged process systems and support the Lead Machinery Engineer with executing aspects of the other major process gas compression packages and their auxiliaries.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
As a Principal Compression & Packaged Equipment Engineer, you will:
* Lead the execution for technical elements of assigned compression & packaged equipment scope on the world's largest green ammonia project with responsibility for delivering committed work on-schedule and on-budget
* Represent the Machinery Engineering function in cross-functional project meetings including P&ID review, HAZOP, layout review and model review
* Prepare technical specification packages for enquiry/purchase and undertake technical review, bid tabulation/evaluation and risk assessment of supplier proposals, coordinating the necessary cross-functional input to support this
* Liaise with the other engineering functions and coordinate cross-functional review of supplier drawings (within Hersham UK and India engineering centres) to facilitate integration of purchased equipment into the overall plant design compliant with engineering standards and the project scope requirements
* Witness inspections and acceptance testing of purchased equipment
* Provide technical support throughout the project construction and commissioning phases retaining overall technical responsibility for equipment until successful handover to the customer
* Deputise for the Lead Machinery Engineer where required
* International travel to equipment suppliers and the site location is expected at appropriate times throughout the project delivery

Key Requirements, Experience & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Principal Compression & Packaged Equipment Engineer, you will have:
* Minimum of degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or European Engineer (EurIng) status
* Demonstrable experience in the specification, evaluation and engineering of compression and packaged equipment in an EPC project environment. Experience with electrical motor driven API 617 (Part 2) centrifugal compressors, API 619 screw compressors and API 618 reciprocating compressors, supporting auxiliaries, and packaged process systems is essential
* A demonstrable understanding of cross-functional interfaces and overcoming associated challenges in an EPC environment for processing facilities
* A dedicated and driven approach with a strong grasp of technical principals, attention to detail and desire to continually learn, improve and contribute
* Good communication, teamwork and influencing skills
* Experience in leading or supervising other engineers
* Experienced in workshop mechanical/performance testing and FATs for compression and packaged equipment
