Essential
* Full and Chartered member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IEMA or similar) or working towards Chartership with expectation of achieving this within a time frame agreed on appointment
* Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis on environment and/or sustainability management, or equivalent experience
* In-depth understanding of environmental legal requirements and experience in ensuring compliance obtained within a similar role and/or in-depth understanding of the Public Services (Social Value) Act, the Modern Slavery Act and other legislation related to social responsibility
* Comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of environmental and/or social value disciplines gained through practical experience
* Demonstrable experience in designing and embedding an environment and/or social value strategy
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills, with a specific emphasis on influencing the views of peers, more senior colleagues and other stakeholders
* Ability to evidence application of design for social value and environmental management
* Demonstrable experience of leading a team and/or function

Desirable
* Experience of managing an ISO 14001compliant environmental management system
* Experience of managing employment and skills programmes in a construction or engineering environment
* Working knowledge of project management
* Understanding of the project management lifecycle within the railway industry, or a similar operating environment.
