Principal Engineer - Shock
Provide engineering support to the shock design of the Ships' Platform. The main objective of this team is to reduce the ship's vulnerability to underwater explosion from threats such as mines and torpedoes.
Assessing the shock captivity capability of equipment to be fitted to the platform
Providing structural design guidance to equipment owners
Ensuring suppliers are compliant with the shock requirements by assessing their designs, shock qualification proposals and shock results.
Providing shock engineering design support and assessment to the spatial and structural interrogation of equipment and systems throughout the platform
Engaging with Stage 1 and 2 engineering teams to ensure successful shock qualification of equipment
As a minimum, degree qualified in Engineering or Physics related discipline
Experience of designing equipment to meet structural requirements
Technical knowledge of platform design and integration for naval surface or submarines would be preferable
Understands the phases of the engineering life cycle and the relationship between activities in different phases of the engineering lifecycle.
Capable of problem definition within a system, identifying, implicit and explicit boundaries, interfaces, constraints and requirements.
Technical knowledge of modelling and verification techniques for transversals and experience using CAD/Foran
Ability to operate in a fast paced environment and display flexibility and resilience to change in a dynamic team.
Maintaining documentation / calculation records under configuration control.
Demonstrate focus through monitoring work packages or projects
Work proactively to support others in the team and other functions to accomplish objectives and support the Project's ability to meet its key objectives
Professional integrity and thoroughness.
Professional knowledge of relevant engineering standards and codes of practice.
Knowledge of the most appropriate uses of specialised analysis tools.
Ability to identify and rectify design issues
Act as a key support to Stage 1 and 2 Engineering, all other functions and external suppliers.
