Location: London

Contract Temp to Perm

Package Managers. procurement of residential fit-out works packages, and potentially follow through into preconstruction and delivery. Must be familiar with Construction Management form of contract. Will work with package QS and design manager to write scopes, compile drawing lists, carry out pre/mid/post tender interviews and write tender placement recommendations. Must be able to review architectural drawings and comment on buildability, tolerance and interfacing issues.

Job Overview Purpose
A member of the project team, reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, coordination and management of a number of sub-contractor employed in a variety of trades within the respective area of works.
The role requires a high level of interfacing between internal departments and external agencies, such as Architects, Engineers, Construction Workers, Sub-contractors, Client agents, Clerk of Works and Site Staff.

Typical sub-contractor packages are likely to be:
* Sub-structure and drainage
* Steel-frame/Concrete Frame
* Secondary Steelwork
* Curtain walling and composite cladding
* Precast Concrete
* Metal Pilasters
* Bauder roofing
* Fit-out and Finishes
* Hard-Landscaping
* Brickwork / Blockwork
* Insitu Concrete
* Dry Lining
* Joinery & Ironmongery
* Internal Finishes
* Stonework

Please note that the responsibilities accountabilities can vary or change from time to time based on business/project requirements.
Responsibilities of the Package Engineer include, but are not limited to:
* Working with the Commercial staff write the Scope of Works for each package, for which he/she is responsible for
* Coordination and management of sub-contractors
* Ensure all obligations to sub-contractor are understood and discharged
* Organise and lead regular site progress meetings with sub-contractors to monitor progress, quality and safety, ensuring the Chief Engineer and Project Manager/Project Director are updated on all issues
* Managing the technical aspects of the on and off site works
* Be the principal point of contact responsible for all works related to a package of works including coordination between packages
* Review package tender information produced by the Design Team and comment where appropriate
* Ensure that the sub-contractor are working to the latest design info and provide technical advice and support where required

* Minimum 2-4 years' work experience within the construction industry
* Proven working experience in package management
* Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
* A good practical understanding of Health & Safety requirements
* A good understanding of all facets of the construction process
* Familiarity with construction software packages
* Ability to prioritise, plan, schedule and evaluate works
* Ability to prepare a 3 week look-ahead programme with assistance of project planner
* Ability to manage conflict through conflict resolution

* Knowledge and experience in use of Project Planning/Programme Techniques

* Degree in civil engineering construction management or related field
* Relevant Construction Skills Certificate Card

* Associate or graduate membership of construction industry related Professional Body (e.g CIOB,ICE)
* Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS
* First Aid at Work
* Fire Marshall


A Package Engineer is expected to develop the key skills and knowledge necessary to enable promotion to the role of Section Engineer or Chief Engineer
