Outdoors Streets Cleanliness Assessor

My client is seeking a self-motivated individual to complement and enhance our Waste & Resource Management team. This will be on an initial 6 month contract with the potential for further discussions on a part-time basis only.

This role will be suitable for someone within market research, mystery shopping etc.

This role involves assisting councils in improving the natural environment for their communities and helping to ensure street cleaning services are efficient and good value for money.
You will be undertaking street cleanliness surveys using a pre-set methodology to grade levels of litter, detritus, graffiti and fly-posting.
A full survey would involve assessing a range of different types of streets over a local area, and recording the results for each on a scale of A-E in a custom-made tablet-based recording system.
Whilst we are subject to constraints in respect of when and where surveys are undertaken, when possible we are willing to consider flexible working days, hours, and times to suit the right individual.

Experience and relevant qualifications are not essential as all training will be provided, and you will receive ongoing support and advice from our wider team as required.

Since the job involves working outside all year round and requires significant walking, it would particularly suit someone who likes to be outdoors and to stay fit and healthy by getting regular light exercise while at work. As it is important to work to a set methodology, it may also suit someone who has previous experience as a market research interviewer or similar types of jobs.

You will need to be dependable, trustworthy, self-motivated, enjoy working outdoors, and able to complete your assessments on schedule to a high standard. We need a 'safe pair of hands' to reliably deliver these important survey works for our clients.

Survey works will be conducted throughout London and the South of England, at times involving staying overnight. You will therefore need to able to drive to various locations in south east England, hold a valid driving licence and, ideally, be a car owner.
However, we would consider applications from non-drivers based in London, where public transport is a practicable alternative to a car.

* Conduct street cleanliness surveys to a high standard, in accordance with a standard methodology and agreed timescales
* Work in a safe way, and comply with risk assessments, including making suggestions for improvements and
* Provide support to other team members and assist on appropriate projects as required.

* Ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records of information
* Good computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Good numeracy, literacy and communication skills
* Practical surveying / data collection experience (direct or transferable) may be an advantage.
* Ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records of information
* Ability to work a tablet and use a spreadsheet to record information
* Basic numeracy, literacy and communication skills

The client offices are based in Angel Court, London.
