Morson are currently looking to recruit an interim Operations manager for our client, a leading manufacturer.

The Role:


To manage the day to day operational activities of a busy manufacturing business. The individual will enjoy a high degree of autonomy in this role and will be expected to develop and to enhance the current operations team through their experience. They will be required to make autonomous decisions to ensure that daily and weekly operations targets are maintained to an exceptional standard, whilst striving to deliver exceptional customer delivery performance. Responsible for key operational metrics, they will report to the Site Operations Manager.


Broad Accountabilities:
 Deliver exceptional performance in People, Quality, Delivery & Cost
 Managing ~50+ people via 7 team leaders operating on a multiple shift system.
 Develop the operations team in a problem solving culture
 Drive a lean culture through the manufacturing areas
 Maintain high standards of Quality, Health and Safety within hose operations.
 Support the recruitment and ongoing training of all operations personnel
 Deliver exceptional communications within the operations teams
 Ensure appropriate levels of cross-training take place to maximise utilisation.
 Ensure inventory controls are both accurate and robust.
 Coach the op's team, enhance skills and develop a culture of empowerment


Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
 Ideally from an engineering operations or manufacturing management supervisory background, ideally qualified with a lean certification and experience or relevant qualifications
 Should ideally be a self-starter with excellent people management skills and the ability to look ahead and can function across multiple disciplines
 Excellent formal problem solving skills with ability to influence others to adopt these skills.
 Strong proven leadership, sourcing, developing and engaging personnel and improving organisational performance (KPI's)
 Completer finisher with multiple role experience who can bring teams together.
 Knowledgeable in working with Microsoft office (word, excel & powerpoint)
 Knowledge of EH&S requirements in a manufacturing environment
 Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
 A natural problem solver, offering agility within the operational context
