To lead a team of specialist professional engineers to deliver Aerodynamic plans, engineering design requirements, data, and evidence for sub-system qualification in fulfilment of the objectives of the programme.
Key Responsibility Areas and associated Standards of Performance
1. BUSINESS PLANNING AND RESOURCING
Estimate technical and resource requirements against a task definition and define a corresponding Statement of Work. Identification of manning requirements and support to resourcing process.
Major risks to be defined and considered all assumptions affecting SoW to be recorded estimates produced in accordance with departmental procedures. Resourcing paperwork completed on time.
To provide technical leadership of the work and to give direction to the team members to coach and motivate staff and to lead by example to train and develop the individuals.
Motivated team with individuals who are continually developing regular feedback sought from team members and promptly acted upon. Well-defined, accurate technical plans.
3. TASK MANAGEMENT
Plan and manage the teams workload to perform tasks to cost and on time, to meet internal and external customer requirements and business needs.
Level 3 programmes aligned with Level 2 programmes, reviewed on a monthly basis and updated as necessary. Average achievement / spend ratio not less than 100%.
4. TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND PROBLEM SOLVING
Apply analytical, interpretative, and evaluative thinking together with creativity and innovation to identify, define, and solve technical problems (i.e. tasks and challenges) to achieve required sub-system performance. Apply personal experience and expertise in one or more of the following Aerodynamic specialisms:
Noise and Acoustics
Knowledge and experience typically represented by MSc qualification or equivalent experience. Typically at least 15 years experience and training in relevant specialism(s) on similar platforms.
5. TECHNICAL QUALITY AND GOVERNANCE
Control the technical content of the work and deliverables, to ensure application of agreed expertise and efficiency. Ensure work is compatible with the projects Quality Management Plan, BAE Systems established departmental quality policy, and meets requirements of international quality standards. Ensure that both self and team members are aware of, and follow the project and departmental procedures.
Internal and external customer satisfaction with deliverables no major queries on technical content. No significant re-work man hours due to internal failures. Task quality assurance records (e.g. specification and completion sheets) completed and kept up to date audits passed failures logged, reviewed and any actions resulting, carried out. No security breaches.
Ensure effective interactions with internal and external customers, suppliers and others, to promote the best interests of the team, project, and companies.
Regular communication feedback sought and comments responded to clear and effective reports and presentations, delivered on time.
7. SELF-DEVELOPMENT AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS
Active contribution to own personal self-development and advancement of individual and team understanding and expertise, to improve efficiency.
Regular review of processes. Any process improvements identified communicated to staff locally, and beyond as appropriate. Up-to-date personal development plan.
