NEC PROJECT MANAGER - Cumbria based

SPECIFIC ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Take instruction from and support the Company Programme Delivery Manager and Programme Lead, as appropriate

To manage delivery of highway (carriageway, drainage and slopes) and bridge assets as instructed

Ensuring the projects are correctly scoped and deliverables are clearly communicated

Key parameters of cost, time and quality are measured, reported against and action taken to mitigate deficiencies

Liaise and work with Commercial and Procurement teams to deliver the projects within agreed project parameters


This will include specific tasks such as
Leading change control on projects - gain agreement with commercial managers (ensuring quantum known following liaison with estimator) and administer the change control process

Approve monthly AFP's following agreement with Commercial Managers and their assessment

Liaise with the CDM Representative and act upon advice provided to ensure project and supply chain CDM and Health and Safety compliance matters are satisfactorily discharged and/or adhered to

Consider all necessary actions in terms of liaison, seeking consents and reporting with statutory bodies, mitigating potential delays and costs to project performance through timely submissions for consenting requirements.

Physically reviewing all sites with supply chain and working with Area teams and Technical Lead to guide and advise on asset remediation approach.

Provide clear direction, working with the Technical Leads and Technical Authority Advisor, to supply chain teams to ensure that the most appropriate remediation measures are applied and delivered.

Lead design option workshops to seek most appropriate solution for asset remediation (where applicable)

Work with NEC Supervisors to ensure the necessary quality and CDM standards are met and making sure deficiencies are rectified

Lead supply chain commencement meetings and subsequent progress meetings - report on performance, rectifying deficiencies in deliverables

Attend Company meetings, Issue reports e.g. BRAG, Local Area Team Meetings

Liaise with local area teams to support local community meetings

Assess the level of resources in supply chain teams and actively work with them to provide the necessary level of competence

Administer NEC 3 contracts, working with NEC Supervisor - through relevant Contract Management System
Identify and address project risk

Issue Briefings, Project Reports, Cabinet Reports as directed by the Programme Delivery Manager.


GENERAL ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Experience of working in an infrastructure based environment

5 years minimum project management experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
NEC 3 experience

Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation.

Strong planning and organising skills including ability to manage several work streams simultaneously

Determination and focus to drive projects through to implementation

Excellent communication skills with a capacity to present, discuss and explain issues coherently and logically both in writing and verbally

Good influencing and persuasion skills with ability to enthuse and inspire multidisciplinary stakeholder groups and build successful relationships at all levels

Computer literate, able to quickly and efficiently use a wide range of Office software including Word, Excel, Project and Power Point

Clear decision-making ability with the facility to judge complex situations and assess when to escalate issues

Ability to balance conflicting and changing demands through prioritisation and a pragmatic approach - getting the balance between the ideal methodology and achieving the aim and benefits of a project. to the satisfaction of the client

Ability to understand commercial imperatives and working relationships. appropriately applies business principles in terms of costs, the market and added value
