Job Title: Mechanical Technician-Surface Treatment
Location: Stevenage
Contract Duration: 6 months
Basic Hours: 37

Shift uplift: 20%


Job Profile

- Chemical cleaning using various methods (Cloth / Immersion)
- Vac blasting using specified pressure and media grade
- Abrasive (Grit) blasting using specified pressure and media grade to produce a surface for either bonding or friction surface
- Aluminium etching of various components for bonding preparation
- Corrosion protection treatment for various aluminium parts
- Paint preparation
- Detailed masking to tight tolerance
- Primer application to achieve specified film thickness
- Paint application to achieve specified film thickness
- Ability to work from detailed drawings and work instructions
- Experience of working to specific methods and procedures
- Working to procedures with checkpoints/quality gates
- Working alongside Area controller to provide support with area disciplines and 5s and adhere to Cleanroom Disciplines and 5 S policies
- Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices adhered to. Ensure all procedures work instructions and processes are followed and correctly annotated on the completion of every operation.
- Provide accurate inputs in the required format with regard to progress of WIP to daily shop floor meeting.

Experience
Ability to work from detailed drawings and electronic work instructions - within specific procedures
Knowledge of satellite structure assemblies or similar
Experience working to procedures with checkpoints/quality gates
Previous experience in other industries in positions such as mechanical fitter, time served mechanical technician
Experience in industries such as Space/Aerospace/Automotive/Motorsport etc.
Ability to work in confined spaces above floor level
Clean room experience
Experience of the Aerospace Industry

There will be a skills test at interview
Desired Qualification level
Minimum of NVQ 3 level in Manufacturing or Production discipline or recognised technician level apprenticeship
Shifts
Weekly rotating double day shifts -
06:00hrs to 14:00 hrs
14:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs
Some weekend working Saturday or Sunday may be required at peak times.
