Our client are a major player in the nuclear sector, from inception of concept through to full development of a finished design and solution, the expertise they provide and deliver is the key to meeting the challenges of innovative and ever evolving nuclear technology.
Due to growth of projects, they are now looking to recruit a number of positions, including a Mechanical Design Engineer as well as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
About the role
To guide the production of fit for purpose and cost effective designs in accordance with British and Sellafield standards, to timescale and budget, ensuring minimum rework following checking.
To provide guidance on material and hardware selection to suit the design criteria.
To provide cost/timescale information and progress reporting.
Responsible for the production of:
* Design Schemes
* Design Proposal Drawings
* Detail Manufacturing Drawings
* General Assemblies
* Mechanical Handling Drawings
* Mechanical Sequence Drawings
* Mechanical Flow Drawings
* Functional Specifications/ Functional Requirements Documents
* Technical Reports and Studies
* Design Justification Reports
Shall identify or respond to task variations through formal change control.
What do I need to do the role?
Ideally, degree qualified (HNC Minimum). Preferably Chartered for the Senior level role.
Has experience of managing several teams of Designers and Engineers and undertaking checking of their Mechanical deliverables.
Shall have extensive experience of producing mechanical design deliverables for Mechanical Handling Equipment, Special Purpose Machinery, and Lifting Equipment used in the nuclear industry.
Shall have a working knowledge and experience in applying relevant EH&S issues as required by Legislation (and applicable Directives) to enabling CE marking of equipment. Ideally, will have experience in collation of associated Technical Files.
Has presented at Designers Risk Assessments / Design Reviews and ideally at HAZOP studies.
Able to interrogate AutoCAD and (Ideally) Inventor in order to review proposed designs.
Has a good knowledge of fabrication techniques.
Has a good knowledge of achievable manufacturing accuracy,
Ideally will have some 'hands on' experience.
Good knowledge of Geometric tolerancing, weld symbols, limits and fits, surface finish.
Good working knowledge of commonly used materials and standards.
