Mechanical / Pressure Vessel (Static Equipment) Engineer - Surrey - 6 Months +
Responsibilities include:
* Leading mechanical execution of projects.
* Design and analysis of pressurized equipment, particularly applying experience in Process Gas Plants - including pressure vessels, storage tanks, reactors, heaters, heat exchangers.
* Reviewing customer technical requirements and specifications and incorporating into project designs.
* Preparing datasheets, technical specifications, requests for quotation and conducting bid tab reviews.
* Technical review of vendor documentation submittals.
* Review and resolution of client comments and clarifications.
* Specification of Technical requirements / Basis of Design for work scope contracted to 3rd party Contractors.
* Review of Contractor's technical documentation in Owner's Engineer role.
* Development of execution strategies and definition /planning of mechanical scope of work.
* Coordination of workload to meet schedule, quality and budget requirements together with timely reporting on status and progress.
* Estimation of manhours and support to proposal activities.
* Travel to supplier and operating plant sites globally may be required.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent and a Chartered Engineer.
* 10+ years of professional experience as a Mechanical / Pressure Vessel engineer.
* Proven ability as lead specialist engineer on projects.
* Experience coordinating workload and resources including interfacing with other design offices.
* Strong working knowledge of Pressure Vessel Codes - particularly ASME BPV Code Section VIII, TEMA standards and API standards. Experience with European Codes and Pressure Equipment Directive, Russian and the Chinese GB code would be beneficial.
* Experience in welding engineering, material selection, and quality control would be beneficial.
* Relevant design experience of ammonia, CO/CO2, gasification, hydrocarbons, hydrogen would be an advantage.
* Familiarity with MathCad, Compress, HTRI, ANSYS would be advantageous.
* Experience with the fabrication of high temperature equipment and piping is desired.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to lead global team members to closure on technical issues.
