A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to work within the Calibration team in the Materials Laboratory of our client, based at their facility on the Isle of Wight.

Purpose of the role is the calibration re-certification and repair of all dimensional measuring equipment used in the company. Successful candidate must be flexibility to work overtime and some weekend working may be required

Responsibilities:

  • Calibration, recertification and repair of all dimensional measuring equipment used in the company, in accordance with the relevant specifications
  • Maintaining and administering the computer-generated calibration records
  • Communicating and Co-ordinating equipment calibration schedules
  • To comply with EASA, AS9100 and Customer requirements for calibration
  • To ensure we are working to the latest National or International Standards
  • To make sure all equipment is traceable to National and International standards through a UKAS Laboratory
  • To organise the dispatch and return of Primary Standards for external calibration to ISO, UKAS, British Standards, Manufactures specification, or In house Customer requirements
  • To liase with internal departments for new equipment ordering and to order spares
  • To write and maintain work instructions to latest specifications
  • To carry out thermal survey of plant and equipment
  • Support internal and external audits

Key Skills / Qualifications:

  • Qualified to a minimum HNC/ HND or BTEC, in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent discipline
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering and calibration principles
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience working within a relevant field
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have a high attention to detail
  • Take responsibility for the completion of tasks within the defined timescales
  • Good communication skills
  • Confident user of Microsoft IT packages
